Join us for an insightful webinar designed for the Public Health DPG, where we’ll explore the continued prevalence of nutrition misinformation on social media—specifically through the lens of the carnivore diet. Our research analyzed video posts on Instagram and TikTok over five days, evaluating their nutrition and health-related claims against evidence-based research from PubMed. We assessed each post for accuracy, the presence of nutrition-related credentials, and the use of citations, ultimately developing a credibility score based on these factors.
In this session, we’ll break down our key findings, highlight the relationship between social media engagement and misinformation, and discuss the role of nutrition education in content credibility. Most importantly, we’ll provide actionable recommendations for registered dietitians to navigate misinformation and effectively communicate science-backed nutrition guidance in their practice.
