The 2012 Farm Bill will be decided in a very different fiscal environment. There have already been large cuts sustained in programs overseen by the Agriculture Committees of the House and the Senate. It will be a struggle to preserve the nutrition program gains made in the 2008 Farm Bill. However, advocates see promise in working toward additional changes in the food programs and policies that assure access to healthy foods to improve the health of Americans.
